Keynote Speakers

  • Ian Lahiff, Energy Project Manager

As the most-visited city in the United States, Orlando is uniquely positioned to influence environmental stewardship in communities around the world. From meeting the foundational needs of local residents to providing an enchanting tourism destination in a changing climate, Ian will describe how to leverage local characteristics to enhance sustainable efforts.

  • Mark Niehaus, Global Energy Engineer

Mark’s presentation will review multi-year strategies for energy efficiency, boiler infrastructure, and automation at two synthetic polymer and fiber production facilities. One plant is in the UK and one in the US. Both sites were over 50 years old and had aging infrastructure. These examples demonstrate that a long term vision and integrated strategy can reduce energy, maintenance, operations, and sustaining capital requirements for existing facilities.

  • Rami Vagal, Senior Manager, Sustainability

Rami will be discussing how it is up to manufacturers and builders to answer consumer questions about how products and buildings effect not only nature, but people. Health and wellness is a priority concern and the growth of the wellness industry has risen to include multiple new products and applications in response. But the majority of what determines our health is based on the physical and social environments where we live and work; therefore, architects and designers have the ability to greatly improve public health outcomes. It is a responsibility to not only respond effectively to customer wants but also provide products that are inherently good towards well-being. Learning the ropes of transparency and green certification systems puts businesses on the forefront of satisfying consumers and global challenges on health.
