Nick is an accomplished professional in Strategic Sourcing & Procurement, Facilities Services, Infrastructure Maintenance, CapEx Initiatives, and Energy and Sustainability with experience in industrial, commercial, institutional and retail operations in US and Europe. He will present on the topic of Procurement and Capital Expenditures. Procurement professionals are generally responsible for acquiring assets for their organizations, such as land, buildings and equipment, either as part of large recurring sourcing events or as one-off bespoke projects. Nick’s presentation will summarize some of the challenges and practices that are common experience during the strategy development and sourcing processes, as well as the efficient management of costs.

Gary brings 30 years of experience helping clients assess, develop and implement energy and sustainability programs and realize savings. At C&W, he directs and supports the development and implementation of the energy management portion of the company’s Global Occupier Services platform. He holds a BS in General Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana and is a Certified Energy Manager and a LEED Accredited Professional.

Jim Davoux, Director, Global Energy Management and Environmental Sustainability
Jim’s presentation title is “Laboratory Lighting and HVAC Savings” which will explain how AbbVie installed LED lighting along with a next generation lighting control system to reduce the electricity spend in one of their large laboratory buildings in the Chicago area. Then leveraged the new lighting control system and the existing building automation system to drive further HVAC energy savings. This presentation will give an overview of the project and highlight the opportunities and challenges.

Jonathan Lee, Director of Energy Solutions
Jonathan works toward the success of Wyndham’s commitment to triple-bottom line success, People, Planet and Profits. As a member of the Corporate Sustainability Group, he develops projects which reduce Wyndham’s energy use intensity and carbon emissions. While at Wyndham, he has focused on distributed energy, such as solar PV and co-generation, and also energy efficiency projects across the operational portfolio.

Nate Verhanovitz, Engineering Director
Michigan State University has constructed the largest non-utility Carport Solar Array in North America. It consists of five commuter parking lots on MSU’s main campus including 5,000 parking spots and 45 acres. This renewable energy has been successfully integrated into the campus Microgrid together with traditional gas-fired electric generation assets in a central plant. This case study covers the operational details and lessons learned at the central plant from solar operations.

John Schoettler, Vice President Global Real Estate and Facilities
John’s disciplines within his areas of responsibility include office leasing, asset management and construction management. Design and construction projects include both urban infill and interior improvements of office complexes throughout a global portfolio of over 10MM square feet spanning 150+ locations in 29 countries. In 2006, his team worked with Vulcan Real Estate to develop a 1.7MM square foot urban campus in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood.

Karen Sands, Director of Planning, Research & Sustainability
In 2011, the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) established a 2035 Vision for organizational sustainability. The Vision sets lofty goals for managing water resources at the watershed scale, reducing energy/using renewables, and addressing climate change. In fact, MMSD envisions building enough green infrastructure capacity to hold 740 million gallons of rainwater, becoming energy independent, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 90 percent. MMSD has developed plans and is implementing a myriad of stand-alone and integrated sustainable projects to achieve these goals. Karen’s presentation will highlight some of the projects in progress as well as those come!

Kurtis’s 30 plus year career with Lockheed Martin started as an anti-satelite missile technician moving into manufacturing engineering then into test operations and then into operations. Including Progam Sr. management with emphasis on International Program management. A recent role was oversight of the Systems Engineering Test organization at WSMR and Redstone Arsenal. Currently serving as Director of Facilities and ESH for MFC Business Area
