FMA Summits: Fostering and Building Business Relationships One Networking Opportunity at a Time

From cold calls to long-term connections

From its humble beginnings in 2006, when Joseph Piazza founded FMA Summits in his basement bedroom, and then went on later to single-handedly organize his first summit with a modest 15 exhibitors and 126 attendees, the company has since expanded into three divisions, which employ 25 full-time staff and generate revenues in the millions.

It’s been a rewarding business trajectory for a man who “believes in the power of the cold call” and who, even when working from his home basement, thought it extremely important to put on a suit for work and get “into the frame of mind to sell.”

Networking with the right people

Today, the company excels at routinely bringing together some of the most successful companies in North America and allowing them to use its platforms, i.e. its Summits, in order to network, meet with vendors, educate their management and staff on current trends and new innovative products, and grow their business. Among FMA’s extensive network are companies that invest billions of dollars in new facilities offices and site development and rely on FMA to bring them in contact with the right investors and credible people in the industry.

The decision was made early for FMA Summits to focus on energy efficiency as its niche because of the sustainable, progressive, and constantly expanding nature of that area of expertise.

Customer testimonials corroborate FMA’s summits’ winning formula, pointing to the company’s professionalism, efficiency, and hands-on approach.

“I was able to get answers to my pressing facilities’ needs and forge partnerships with various vendors that can provide the solutions I need without all the wasted time on cold calls,” was how one client phrased it.

Continued success and expansion

With the company’s continued success, faithful clients, growth, and accumulated experience planning and overseeing over 25 business summits in the past decade, it made perfect sense for it to expand and create additional complementary industry services.

In 2013 FMA Summits added a Sports Hospitality division. The year http://nygoodhealth.com before they introduced Covesse, a services firm that provides contract negotiation and site selection services to companies planning corporate events similar to its summits.  As company owner Joseph Piazza puts it, “it was a natural next step.”

A continued fan of and believer in cold calls, Piazza still relies on them for closing the deal. “We have no problem cold-calling Fortune 500 companies, finding out who’s responsible for their buildings on a national level and inviting them and their teams to our summits. E-mails, marketing, and tradeshows don’t draw corporate VPs the way people think,” he explains. “They need to be called and that’s what we do so our sponsors don’t have to.”

With its experience, reach and business trust developed over the past decade with American and Latin American governments, Fortune 500-1000 companies and other Economic Development Agencies, FMA Summits is ideally positioned to connect the right business people with the right investors. The company has matched and scheduled over 7,500 qualified one-on-one meetings and in the process has gained loyal summit attendees who return year after year.

“The most rewarding thing of my business is that we’re able to help connect people that otherwise wouldn’t be able to connect, and those opportunities lead to business. We’re like the Love Boat of the industry,” he says chuckling. “We connect the right people and everyone gets lucky in the end.”
